These sacred sthalams are located in and around ayyampet.
It is believed that on the Sapthami thithi, the Saptha Kanniyar, the Sopatha mathar, the Saptha Mangaiyar, as they are known, who are the Rishi patnis, visit earth in the Human form to conduct pooja and involve in Tapas.
When the Devis of the Tirumurtis visited planet on divine directive, The Lords sent associates of the Goddesses to accompany them. The Saptha Kanniyar, the Sopatha mathar, the Saptha Mangaiyar were part of this Divine team and places where they worhsipped attained divine status.
It is said that in order to satisfy the request of Katyaya rishi and sumangalai, The divine mother appeared as an infant on a lotus leaf in the divine Vishnu theertham in Thiruvezhimizhalai.
Following the Mother, the Saptha Kannis also took their various roles to serve the mother.
So it is believed that during the period of Navaratri, Mother visits the planet with the saptha deviyar and bless the planet. One should pray to the devis and seek their blessings for a happy life.’

Vishnu obtained his discus (Chakram) after worshipping Shiva here and hence the name Chakrapalli.
This is a small temple associated with the Swamimalai temple. The main shrine faces East. There are the images of Ganesha, Dakshinamurthy, Lingodbhava, Bhrahma and Durga with additional shrines to Surya, Chandra and Bhairava.
Inscriptions from the period of Kulottunga III are found.
The stone sanctum sanctorum is built of stone and idols of Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai are on the sanctum walls.
Mother is called as Devanayaki faces south and the shrine can be found on the right side after the entering the temple.
The Maha Mandapa has the shrines of Sun, Moon, Bhairavar, a Bana Linga and Nalvar the four Saivite saints – Tirugnanasambandar, Thirunavukkarasar, Sundarar and Manickavasagar In addition to the shrines for Ganapathy, Valli Devasena samedha Subramaniyar and Sandikeswarar in the outer prakaram.
Vilwa tree is the Sthala Vriksham. Theerthams associated with this Temple are River Cauvery and Kaka Theertham.
There are inscriptions from the period of Kulottunga III that bears testimony to the democratic norms of the times.
Ariyamangai Ayur devi and Shiva temple, Ayyampettai, Tamil Nadu 614201

Lord Shiva located at Ariyamangai also called as Harimangai in Papanasam Taluk in Thanjavur District of-Tamil Nadu as the Presiding Deity is called as Hari Muktheeswarar and Mother is called as Gnanambika. This Temple is associated with Mother Maheswari.
Mother Parvathi accompanied by Maheswari (Another Mother form which came out of Lord Shiva holding Trident and wearing Chandran on her head), worshipped Shiva and had the Ganga Darshan on the second day of Navarathri.
Sathya Ganga Theertham (now called Hari Theertham), did severe penance to Shiva, eating only the Arunellikai fruit to achieve her goal and get a boon from Shiva to be by the side of Lord Vishnu. Shiva gave her the Boon. And since Hari Mangai refers to Mahalakshmi, this place came to be called Hari Mangai which over a period of time, became Ariya Mangai.
The very small temple is situated in a slightly elevated place. Presiding Deity is called as Hari Muktheeswarar and Mother is called as Gnanambika with a separate shrine for Lord Varadaraja with his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Shrines for Murugan and Vinayaga are in the Temple premises. Sthala Vriksham is Nelli (gooseberry) and the Theertham is Hari Theertham.and the association with Lord Vishnu is confirmed by both the name of the Lord and the Theertham.
The Deities from the main temple Chakkarapalli are taken in a procession in very huge Glass palenquin weighing more than 2000 Kgs by bearers on bare foot over more than 40 Kms in two days non stop except for few hours halt at Kudamurutti river sands for the fireworks show at 4 am.

A 1500 year old Temple on the Kudamurutti river dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Thirpullamangai (also called as vellala Pasupathi Koil) in Papanasam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamilnadu. The Temple is also called as Brahmapureeswarar Temple / Pasupatheeswarar Temple as the presiding Deity is called as Brahmapureeswarar / Alanthurai Nathar / Pasupatheeswarar, Vada Theertha Nathar and Mother is called as Alliyankothai / Soundara Nayaki.
The temple is one of the Maadakovil built by 2nd century Kochengat Chola and built with elevated structure where elephants cannot reach the sanctum, in the Chola empire.

Chandramouleeswarar Temple is a 1300 year old Hindu Temple in Thazhamangai and the Presiding Deity is called as Chandramouleeswarar and Mother is called as Sri Raja Rajeswari.
Called Pavathaayamangalam during Pallava Period, this place was called as Nitha Vinotha Valanattu Kizhar Kutrathu Pavathayamangalam during the Chola Period. During Sundara Cholan time, the floods in Kaveri washed away all the villages including Thazhamangalam and the only structure that remained unaffected was this temple
The Temple is very small with just single prakaram with a small entrance arch. Nandhi and Balipeedam are found facing the sanctum with no Dwaja Sthambam in this Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Chandramouleeswarar and Mother is Sri Raja Rajeswari. This temple is quite special because the Mother Goddess manifests herself as Rajarajeswari

The Temple is having three tiered Rajagopuram with single prakaram. Life History of Sage Markandeya and Story of Kannappa Nayanar are seen. Lord Shiva with eight hands with weapons are depicted beautifully in stucco idols in the Rajagopuram. Sanctum housing the presiding deity and Shrine of Uchishta Ganapathy are located on the elevated structure adjacent to each other. Uchishta Ganapathy Idol is sculptural masterpiece.
Saneeswara, Bhairavar, Durga, Dakshina Moorthy and Gajalakshmi can be found on the walls of the ground floor. There is an idol of Manthan with his consort Manthi on the south west side of the prakaram. There is also an idol of Bhairavar on the north-west side of the prakaram.
The idol of Naduvircheri Sri Kalapidari located within 1 Km from this Temple, is on elevated area.. This form of Mother is being cited as Uragachudai Mulaichi in Silapathikaram.
Jambukeswarar temple, Nandimangai

Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Nallicheri in Papanasam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamilnadu. The place is called Nandi Mangai and Presiding Deity is as Jambukeswarar / Jambunathar and Mother is called as Akilandeswari. This Temple is associated with Mother Vaishnavi.
The only Mangai Temple is facing west but the entrance is through south side. Here the Lord faces West and the Kshetram offers Mukthi, like Kashi. Hence the temple faces the cremation ground.
On the Sankata Hara Chaturthi day (fourth day in the waning period of the moon) in the Tamil month of Panguni, Surya’s rays fall on the Lord. Ambal is called as Akilandeswari and faces South in a standing posture. Vishnu Durga shrine in this temple is very popular: Irattai Vinayagars is at the entrance of the Temple. One can find beautiful paintings on the walls and ceilings of the Vowvaal (owl) mandapam. The Sthala Vriksham is Naval tree (Jambu) and could be the reason for the Lord’s name. Theertham is called Devakatha Theertham. There is well near the Lord’s shrine.

Soolamangai Keerthivageeswarar Temple

Keerthivageeswarar Temple associated with Mother kaumari, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the Presiding Deity is called as Keerthivageeswarar / Kari Uritha Nayanar and Mother is called as Alankara Valli. This Temple is also considered as Thevara Vaipu Sthalam.
The Lord is a Swayambumurthy, is always covered with a Kavacham perhaps to signify the Elephant skin episode. Dakshinamurthy normally below the Kallala Tree. Here he is without the tree and in Jata Mudi Kolam.
This temple has a shrine for Lord Astra Deva which is around 5 feet, the weapon maker for the deities who prayed the Lord here. It is unique many feel cleansing of enmity and negative feelings. His idol which is in worshipping position and is near the entrance of the temple
Sthala Vriksham is Vilvam and Theertham is Soola Theertham believed to be created by Lord’s trident and hence the name of the place. Kulothunga Chola III, Sundara Pandyan, & Hoysala Kings have made grants
